The 2007 chestnut crop is gone, though we do still have some seconds available for animal feed or other use; this is now reflected on the nut order page. We do have some bare-root dormant stock still available, as indicated on the hazel and chestnut plant order pages. The 2008 Field Day now has its own page, and has links added on the Home Page, News Page, and Main Field Day Page. The 2008 Short Course was a success; links have been updated to indicate that it is no longer an upcoming event. Also added a link on the News Page to the 2008 events archive.

Also updated the description of the role of the Woody Ag weblog on the News and Home pages, and put a link to the FAQ on the contact page.

A few small updates today, partly the news and home pages, but mostly on the nut order page that the 2007 crop of hazels is sold out, but we still have good availability for our top-quality chestnuts.
December 19, 2007
Still slowed down, but picking up the pace. A pile of updates today, including the main page, all news categories, the 2008 short course, and a 2008 events section. The biggest change is the addition of the information products section, including our newly-offered consulting services.
October 13, 2007
After the floods and various other disasters covered in the blog, we're finally updating the main site again. Today just posted some changes to the navigation bars and an update to the nut order page. Further updates should be forthcoming, and we plan to get some good coverage of the field day and hazel diesel demo up on the news section before long.
August 11, 2007
Pictures were posted late yesterday on the Field Day page and the Three Biodiesel Breakthroughs press release. Updated the Info and Hazel Info pages to make it easier to find the Hazel Handbook, and Why.
August 9, 2007
Added a Collaborators page to the About Badgersett section. This page now has links to Grass Run Farm as well as reports from Dr. Ron Currie's students on hazelnut chemistry. We hope to add information there to make it a more complete listing fairly soon. Also posted the following press release, with links on the news page and homepage. New pictures showing some of the impressive crops we have to show at the field day will be posted on the field day page sometime tomorrow.
THREE BIODIESEL BREAKTHROUGHS
PRESS RELEASE: For Immediate Release; 8/9/2007
Badgersett Research Corporation (BRC), announces 3 major breakthroughs in sustainable biodiesel production this year; Proof of Principle for their unique breeding process; a Low-Tech Cloning process so farmers can clone their own best plants, and the addition of a third crop option from their work; new Hybrid Pecan/Hickories.

Updated and moved the About Badgersett page, and added a Personnel page, with info about employees and a more up-to-date Curriculum Vitae for Philip Rutter.
August 4, 2007
Posted a more specific schedule on the field day page. Also added information about the just-planned first-ever hazel diesel demo (we're VERY excited about this), information on field day discounts for plant sales, availability of gourmet hazel oil, and Amish baked goods to supplement your lunch.

Posted a link to old press release archives on the News page.
Temporarily make the NEW! link in the navbar point directly to the field day page.
Re-posted a link to the old home page on the Info page, since we still have some info that hasn't been migrated to the new format. If you find such information, please let us know.
July 22, 2007
Posted the details page for this year's field day. Finalized tour schedule will be posted no later than August 4.
An easy-to-view GIF version of the roadmap is now included on the About Badgersett page.

Posted a PDF road map to Badgersett Research Farm [76 KB] on the About Badgersett page, slightly updated but still pleasantly old-school. Let us know if you are having trouble using it to get here.
Badgersett Bulletin 8: Canker-Infested Butternut Trees With 30-Year Survival is hereby published online, with links posted from the Info and Plants pages. More bulletins and an honest-to-goodness Publications section are in the works.
Updated calendar of events archive a bit, as well as the news on the homepage.
July 2, 2007
Shipping and handling prices for plants have been updated. Additionally, the lack of availability for hickories and butternuts for this year has been noted there. A bulletin detailing our butternuts is finished, and should be posted soon.
Mar. 18, 2007
The 2nd Woody Agriculture Short Course registration information is now up on the web. The short course will be held on Mar 31–Apr 1 at Eagle Bluff Environmental Learning Center. Read more...
Dec. 30, 2006
The Plants catalog has been updated, and we are now set up to take plant orders via e-mail; follow the directions on the appropriate catalog page. Coming soon to the plants pages will be hybrid hickories, and butternut seedlings from canker-resistant wild parents. These new additions will be available for the 2007 planting season.
In addition, the news section has been restructured and now includes news archives. The archive is currently only for 2006, but the intention is to eventually index all old web pages in the archive so that they can be searched. For now, the best way to find an old page is to email the webmaster.
Dec. 27, 2006
Badgersett.com is pleased to be accepted as a member of the Horticulture webring.
In addition, all web page extensions have been changed from .shtml to .html. If you have pages with the .shtml extension bookmarked, these should automatically redirect to the correct page. Please email the webmaster if this is not the case.
Dec. 26, 2006
The Weblog style is now consistent with the rest of the site. As always, please email the webmaster if you can no longer navigate the blog or if you have comments about how navigation (on the blog or anywhere on the site) could be improved.
Nov. 26, 2006
Lots of news this time around, primarily:
As of today you can place online orders for nuts by following the directions on our nut order page. In the next week we plan to post seriously revamped plant order pages, complete with the appropriate e-mail ordering instructions. Also coming up will be revamped ordering for accessories and supplies, including gopher poison and fertilizer. If you have questions or suggestions after having ordered (or attempted to) using this new method, please direct them to paypal@badgersett.com
As you might have guessed from the previous paragraph, we're in a period of major web development. Even though not much has changed on the surface so far, we've been making a lot of changes in the site to make further updating easier. As always this has the potential to mess things up, so please contact webmaster@badgersett.com if you find anything that's broken, or if there's something you think should work differently.
Also new today is this page, which is the first stage in a new organization of the news section. Stay tuned for further updates!
Nov. 6, 2006
Posted a new page on chestnut-fed pork in the chestnut part of our info section. This has some details on the chestnut-finished pigs that Badgersett and Grass Run Farm have been experimenting with, along with some background. More info and an in-depth taste analysis are available at this entry on the Augieland food blog.
